This past Thursday, KASPACE hosted a private opening for fine art photographer Ted Witek's FORME art exhibition. The show features a finely edited selection of Witek's abstract black and white nudes - juxtaposed alongside his vibrantly colourful floral images. Curated by KA and Hilda Yasseri, the story behind the FORME show is the resemblance of energy and purity of the female forme, as well as the forme of a flower or beautiful plant. Textures and light all play together to bring a feeling of modern sensuality and peace.
Over the years, Ted Witek has traveled extensively around the world and has lived in the United States, Germany, Portugal and Canada - taking many of the images selected for this show in various cities such as Mexico City, Lisbon, Johannesburg, Berlin and Banff between 2002 and 2009. Because every photograph is taken in a different time and place - each piece has a story that is uniquely its own. Such as "Frida's Calla" which is a photograph taken in Mexico City inside of artist Frida Khalo's private gardens.
Ted Witek has been capturing images since childhood, photographing purely using film cameras and natural light having a way of seeing photographically and allowing the time to pass and the right moment to be frozen in time through his lense.
The art will be available for viewing at KASPACE until September 5th, 2017. Pieces are available for purchase as-is in gallery or by custom order.
Special thanks to all our guests and the KA production team, Ashley Allwood, Madison Grace and Akua mensah.
